California State University, en Fresno fue fundada como Fresno State Normal School en 1911, se convirtió en la universidad de profesores en 1921, y ha ofrecido títulos avanzados desde 1949. La universidad lleva el apodo de "Fresno State." La mascota es el Bulldog.
